Puppet & Circus Residencies

Circus Residencies
Circus Cascadia can offer in-school residencies for the electives or physical education program at your school. We have hosted very successful workshops at Winterhaven Elementary, Westridge Elementary, and Springville Elementary. These workshops are designed to fit the tighter schedule of the school day, and the natural physicality of circus is a great opportunity for students to experience art and physical education at the same time.
Puppet Residencies
Paul Battram, the ringmaster of Circus Cascadia has another skill up his sleeve… puppets! Paul has been working with puppets for over 25 years, ranging from full body puppet performance, to puppet construction, manipulation and instruction. Paul started his puppetry career in Wales, learning the classic Punch & Judy puppet show from Professor Panic of Panic Circus. Paul taught puppet residencies with Tears of Joy Theatre for six years, visiting hundreds of schools for a week at a time, helping students make their very own quality puppet and even putting on a show at the end of the week!

Paul Battram and the other clowns at circus cascadia are brilliant. Tuition for the week of summer camp my six-year-old attended was the best money i've spent in a long time--more afforable than other summer camps and a perfect match for my child's needs. The circus arts he learned that week promoted confidence, connection and FUN! What's not to love? My child sometimes has trouble with new situations but displayed only a little anxiety the first day which the clowns quickly dispelled. He also struggles with sensory processing integration and the week of circus camp was the perfect thing for him--channeling all his energy, silliness and sensory needs into balance, teamwork and good times. It was like a week of the most entertaining occupational therapy ever. He was begging to go each morning and we'll definitely be back for more. Paul and the other staff are cheerful, positive and caring not to mention irresistably playful. Anon.
I can't say enough good things about Paul and Circus Cascadia. Working with Paul has helped my daughter's self-esteem immensely as she has learned so many things with him: juggling, stilt-walking, tight-rope, uni-cycling, performance - it's amazing what he can impart in even a few hours! Her sense of accomplishment and capability definitely increases with each session with Paul- and he keeps it fun, even when the learning is tough!
